Nestled at the heart of the Josef Chromy estate is an immersive dining experience at our hatted restaurant. A cornerstone of the region, it’s a must-do lunch spot for your Tamar Valley itinerary.

You’ll be greeted by our warm and welcoming team, and seated with a view of the vines. Enjoy the restaurant’s modern architecture, a striking contrast to our adjoining cellar door housed within an original 1880s homestead. 

Executive Chef, Nick Raitt, leads the kitchen team in crafting every dish with heart and honesty, using only the best local produce available. From burgeoning tiny farms to artisanal producers, every plate is a testament to the rich tapestry of Northern Tasmania’s land and its people.

Central to our dining philosophy is the celebration of seasonality. By harnessing the freshest seasonal produce, we ensure that every bite is a reflection of the time of year, echoing the seasonal cycles of our winegrowing. 

The kitchen’s commitment to sustainability is in-keeping with our winery and vineyards. A testament to this is our sourcing of eggs from the Gumboots chickens that roam freely in our nearby supplier’s backyard. This farm-to-plate approach is emblematic of Nick’s dedication to quality and honesty.

Art of Sparkling Experience

Book now

Meet at Cellar Door were you will start a guided tour of the grounds, taking in the history of the vineyard and Joe’s story.

Guests will be taken through the sparkling wine making process, then undertake your own liqueur d’expedition dosage trials to craft a bottle of sparkling to your exact taste. Each guest will receive a bottle of their blend to enjoy on the day and may order sparkling wine at their own dosage rate to be sent following their visit. Here you will also have the opportunity to taste other Josef Chromy wines before relaxing in the restaurant with a 2 course lunch with paired wines.
